Equity · Belonging · Community empowerment · Authenticity · Community · Democracy · Power of voice

Mission.

Heart Language Cooperative advances language justice by providing interpretation, translation, and consulting services.

A female translato facilitate a community discussion in a classroom with green walls, windows, and a table with papers and drinks.

We are a worker-owned cooperative based in Lexington, Kentucky. Our approach to language access services is rooted in language justice. Language justice is the right to communicate in the language you feel most connected to — your heart language. Your heart language is the language or languages you feel most comfortable in, in which you best express yourself.

We’ve learned a great deal from the co-ops that came before us, with particular thanks to Patchwork Cooperative Loan Fund and Sam Lockridge for coaching us and helping us access the resources to launch.
